Honorary members do not vote and do not govern. They are named because this Foundation does not exist without them.
Alice Faye Taylor
Matriarch · Educator · Advocate · Legacy builder
Born on Christmas Day, 1943, in New Boston, Texas. Salutatorian of her high school class, then Texas Southern University and Boise State University. She spent more than thirty years as a paraprofessional in special education in the Mountain Home school district, and was recognized district-wide for it more than once.
She served in the Order of the Eastern Star, the Order of the Golden Circle, and the NAACP Treasure Valley Branch, where she was inducted into the Heritage Hall of Fame. She was a champion of equity in sport and education, particularly for girls and women, and she raised three children while moving a family around the world on Air Force orders.
The scholarship carries her name alongside her husband’s. Every scholar-athlete this Foundation names is named because of her.
How this board works
A working board, not a letterhead board.
Every director sits on at least one standing committee, and the committees do the work between meetings. That is deliberate for an organization this young: at our size, a board that only meets quarterly is a board that only learns things quarterly.
Seven standing committees
Governance, Finance, Programs, Scholarship, Fundraising & Events, Communications & Brand Strategy, and Executive. Each is chaired by a director and meets on its own rhythm.
Independent oversight
Independent voting directors make compensation and related-party decisions at arm’s length from the founders. It matters more, not less, in a family-founded organization.
Reported quarterly
The board reviews access, retention and leadership outcomes every quarter, and we publish what we find. See the current ledger →
