What we collect, and what we do with it.
Written to be read. If something here is unclear, that is our problem rather than yours — write to us and we will fix the wording.
Who we are
The Taylor LEAD Foundation is a 501(c)(3) public charity incorporated in Idaho, EIN 99-2465893, at P.O. Box 8744, Boise, Idaho 83707. We are the organization responsible for the information described here, and you can reach us at hello@taylorleadscholarship.com or 208.477.1522.
What we collect
We collect information in four situations, and nothing else.
When you fill in a form
Depending on the form, that means your name, email address, phone number, school or organization, town, and whatever you write in the free-text fields. We collect what a form asks for and no more — we do not append data from other sources or buy lists.
When you apply for something
Scholarship and grant applications ask for more, because they have to: academic records, athletic participation, references, essays, post-secondary plans and, for grants, information about a family’s financial circumstances. This is the most sensitive information we hold and it is treated accordingly.
When you give
Donations are processed by GiveButter. We never see or store your card details. We receive your name, contact details, the amount and the date, which we need in order to acknowledge the gift and meet our tax reporting obligations.
When you visit this site
Squarespace records standard analytics — pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type, and how you arrived. It is aggregate rather than individual, and we use it to work out which pages are useful.
What we do with it
- Reply to you, which is usually the only reason we have it
- Review applications and administer scholarships, grants and programs
- Acknowledge donations and issue tax receipts
- Send occasional news, but only if you asked us to
- Report aggregate figures to our board, our funders and the public
We do not sell your information, rent it, trade it, or share it with anybody for their own marketing. Not to other nonprofits, not to sponsors, not to anyone. If a sponsor asks us for a list, the answer is no.
Who processes it on our behalf
We are a small organization and we use ordinary tools to run. Each of these holds some of your information because it has to in order to do its job. None of them may use it for their own purposes.

Each has its own privacy policy, and we keep this list current as tools change.
Children and young people
Most of the people this Foundation exists for are under eighteen, so this section is longer than it would be elsewhere and we would rather it were clear than short.
Scholarship applicants
Applicants are typically seventeen or eighteen. Applications are reviewed by a committee bound to confidentiality, and application contents are not published. We announce recipients publicly — name, school and institution — and we tell applicants that before they apply.
Grant and camp participants
IX Grant applications and camp registrations involve children as young as Pre-K and are completed by a parent or guardian, not by the child. We collect the minimum needed to award a grant or run a session safely.
Photographs and stories
We do not publish a photograph or story involving anybody under eighteen without written permission from a parent or guardian, naming where it will appear. That permission can be withdrawn at any time by emailing us, and withdrawing it does not affect a grant, a scholarship or a place in a program in any way.
This applies to our website, our social media, our media kit and anything we give to press.
If you are under thirteen
This website is not directed at children under thirteen and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe we hold information about a child under thirteen, write to us and we will delete it.
Email, and how to stop it
We send two kinds of email. Transactional messages reply to something you did — a form you submitted, an application you made, a donation you gave. Newsletter emails go only to people who asked for them, about four times a year.
Every newsletter email has an unsubscribe link and it works immediately. You can also just write to us and say stop, which we will treat exactly the same way.
Cookies
Squarespace sets cookies necessary for the site to function, and analytics cookies that tell us which pages are read. ActiveCampaign and GiveButter set cookies when you interact with their forms.
We do not run advertising cookies and we do not track you across other websites.
How long we keep things
- Donation records — as long as tax and charity law requires
- Scholarship and grant applications — through the cycle and for a reasonable period afterwards, for reporting and to answer questions about a decision
- Contact records and email — until you ask us to remove them
- Consent for photographs and stories — kept with the material it covers, so we can always show what was agreed and when
Your choices
Write to hello@taylorleadscholarship.com and we will:
- Tell you what we hold about you
- Correct anything that is wrong
- Delete it, unless we are legally required to keep it — donation records, mainly
- Stop emailing you
- Withdraw permission for a photograph or story
You do not need to give a reason for any of these, and asking changes nothing about a grant, an application or anything else.
Security, honestly
We use reputable services that encrypt data in transit and at rest, we limit who inside the Foundation can see application data, and we do not store payment details at all.
We are also a volunteer organization with one paid member of staff, and no organization of any size can promise that nothing will ever go wrong. If something does, we will tell the people affected rather than hoping nobody notices.
Changes to this policy
If we change anything material, we will update the date below and say what changed. We will not quietly revise it.
