Our Story
Empowering Generations Through Legacy, Leadership, and Opportunity.
The Alice & Charles Taylor Scholar-Athlete LEAD Scholarship was born from a moment of gratitude and recognition. In 2015, during the inaugural Mountain Home High School (MHHS) Athletic Hall of Fame Dinner, siblings Gary and Angela Taylor announced the creation of the scholarship as part of their acceptance speeches for being inducted into the Hall of Fame. This was their way of honoring their parents, Charles and Alice Taylor, who were in attendance at the event.
Greg, Gary, and Angela, all graduates of Mountain Home High School, have long credited their parents with being the pillars of their success. Charles, who served 27 years in the United States Air Force, and Alice, a paraprofessional in School District #193 for 30 years, instilled in them the values of hard work, discipline, and community service. Their parents' unwavering support and commitment to giving back to the community laid the foundation for the Taylor siblings' achievements—not just in sports, but in their academic and professional lives as well.
During the MHHS Hall of Fame ceremony, Gary and Angela shared this joint statement: “We are so grateful for the support, guidance, and example that our parents set for the three of us. Their emphasis on the importance of hard work (both in the classroom and the playing field) was the catalyst for the successful journey we’ve both been fortunate to experience over the years.”
Each sibling's journey exemplifies the values of hard work and dedication. Greg (MHHS Class of 1983) played football and ran track before attending Boise State University, where he walked onto the football team. Gary (MHHS Class of 1987) excelled in football, basketball, and track before attending Stanford University, where he earned a scholarship to play football. Angela (MHHS Class of 1989), a standout in volleyball, basketball, and track, walked onto the women’s basketball team at Stanford University and two months later earned a full-ride athletic scholarship. She also earned her MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business. All three have gone on to successful careers, and the values their parents instilled in them continue to guide their endeavors.
The Alice & Charles Taylor Scholar-Athlete LEAD Scholarship officially began in 2015, starting with a donation to the girls’ and boys’ athletic programs at Mountain Home High School. The following year, the Taylor family expanded the initiative by creating student scholarships, with a mission to support young people pursuing excellence in academics and athletics. This scholarship continues to honor the legacy of Charles and Alice Taylor, while empowering the next generation of scholar-athletes to achieve their dreams.
The organization officially became a 501(c)(3) non-profit in March of 2024 and now operates under the name: The Taylor LEAD Foundation.
